@jsnell You know, if the tablet is "imaginary", it's soon going to turn out that some people have *really* accurate imaginations :)

    • jsnell - Twitter jsnell  December 27, 2009  Reply

@nevenmrgan It's imaginary until it exists (or until there's solid evidence) - right now it's whatever you want it to be. Including its name

@jsnell A rare occurrence: We agree completely. Ain't no Apple iPony until it's on stage or store.apple.com.

        • jsnell - Twitter jsnell  December 28, 2009  Reply

@mdhughes You are shaking my faith...

@jsnell I also didn't freak out for the iPhone 2G; I used an iPod touch until 3G. Apple's not even infallible with devices that DO exiat.

@jsnell In fact I call it iMaginary ;)

    • jsnell - Twitter jsnell  December 27, 2009  Reply

@nevenmrgan I'm tired of people saying they want a product that has no specs, no price, no name... who doesn't want an idealized product?

      • flpatriot - Twitter flpatriot  December 27, 2009  Reply

        @jsnell Mennonites?

        • jsnell - Twitter jsnell  December 27, 2009  Reply

@flpatriot But the iSlate for Mennonites is hand-whittled from cedar and runs on a hand crank!

            @jsnell OMG WANT. #mennonitetweets

      • danielpunkass - Twitter danielpunkass  December 27, 2009  Reply

@jsnell We are entitled to be excited about a product whose likelihood of existence seems to be increasing, while conceding imaginariness.

@danielpunkass @jsnell Wondering: does Apple incur damage if it doesn't exist? I can't tell if anyone with a proper source thinks it's real.

        • jsnell - Twitter jsnell  December 28, 2009  Reply

@danielpunkass Would you go so far as to say you want a product that has no specs and no price? It's a pipe dream.

          • danielpunkass - Twitter danielpunkass  December 28, 2009  Reply

@jsnell I agree the media has different responsibilities than me (a fantasy speculator). MY imaginary product HAS price & specs.

          • nevenmrgan - Twitter nevenmrgan  December 28, 2009  Reply

@jsnell There are such things as "reasonable guess" & "warranted expectation". Journalists should be careful, but don't alienate the rest :)

@nevenmrgan @jsnell Jason perhaps you can confirm. Wasn't there a "confirmed" tablet cover story on Macworld about 10 years ago?

          • danielpunkass - Twitter danielpunkass  December 28, 2009  Reply

@jsnell So in other words, if this is just a misunderstanding, you're basically mad at the media, I agree and commend you.

            • jsnell - Twitter jsnell  December 28, 2009  Reply

@danielpunkass My previous tweet was satirizing gdgt.com for letting people add the iSlate to their Want List. I want a pony.

@jsnell That and there's still no compelling reason why I would want a tablet in the first place, let alone a make-believe one...

          • bonaldi - Twitter bonaldi  December 28, 2009  Reply

@jsnell I wanted an apple phone when it had no specs and no price, because all the real alternatives were crap. Exact same scenario here.

            • jsnell - Twitter jsnell  December 28, 2009  Reply

@bonaldi When? That rumor started in 1999 :-)

              • bonaldi - Twitter bonaldi  December 28, 2009  Reply

@jsnell Good point! Gmail says I'd been on about it since 2004 ... around the time I got my first Motorola :)

    • jsnell - Twitter jsnell  December 28, 2009  Reply

@nevenmrgan BTW I'd wager most specific rumors about it are wrong. Even lead rumormongers only have fuzzy details. Apple will surprise us!

      • zigziggityzoo - Twitter zigziggityzoo  December 28, 2009  Reply

@jsnell I'd buy the tablet for one reason: as an accessory for my Digital SLR for showing photos to clients. If that can be done.

@jsnell Speaking of TARDIS, did you watch Doctor Who END OF TIME p1 yet? I'm curious what you thought about it.

    • jsnell - Twitter jsnell  December 27, 2009  Reply

@SplinteredMind Thought the Master resurrection was ridiculous; liked the last 30 minutes

      • SplinteredMind - Twitter SplinteredMind  December 27, 2009  Reply

@jsnell I felt the plot was a jumbled mess. Laughable. Only liked the interaction between Wilfred & Doctor in the TARDIS. Otherwise, meh.

        • jsnell - Twitter jsnell  December 27, 2009  Reply

@SplinteredMind RTD tends to stuff way too much into his "big events." Season finales, specials. Can't wait for a new season/doc/showrunner.

          • SplinteredMind - Twitter SplinteredMind  December 28, 2009  Reply

@jsnell Indeed. I am looking forward to Steven Moffat's command of the helm. Many of my favorite Doctor Who episodes were written by him.

@jsnell Dont't forget the Jet-Pack! I'm still waiting on that.

  • aclark - Twitter aclark  December 27, 2009  Reply

@jsnell I'd even settle for the Doctor's suit with pockets that are bigger on the inside.

  • mjcp - Twitter mjcp  December 28, 2009  Reply

@jsnell I don't particularly want a TARDIS (noisy, unpredictable, difficult to maintain) but a Sonic Screwdriver is another story.
